NATO INTERNATIONAL CIVILIAN (NIC) EMPLOYMENT

The need to provide continuity and specialist skills not found in the military, coupled with the cost of training military personnel in skills found in commerce, underpin the requirement for international civilian staff as an integral part of NATO’s military structure. At JATEC, NATO International Civilian Staff work along-side their military colleagues in functions which span the activities of the Centre in both operational and supporting roles. These include Operations Research & Analysis, Resource Management (HRM, Finance, Infrastructure), Communications & Information Technology and International Law.

The categories of NATO International Civilian staff employed NATO-wide range from NATO Grade (NG) 8 to NG 22.

Currently, the categories of NATO International Civilian staff employed at the JATEC range from NATO Grade (NG) 10 to NG 17.
Serving NATO International Civilian staff will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations. Newly recruited staff will be offered an initial contract of three years with possibility of renewal. The mandatory retirement age for NATO is 65.

LOCAL WAGE RATE (LWR) EMPLOYMENT

Local Wage Rate (LWR) posts are internationally funded and have a local employment status. Personnel filling LWR posts are employed under terms set out in their contracts of employment which must comply with Polish labour laws and regulations. Applications for LWR posts will only be accepted from nationals of all NATO countries. However, nationals of NATO countries that are not members of the European Union (EU) require a residence permit and a work permit for Poland.

How to Apply for LWR Post

In order to be considered for LWR (Local Wage Rate) post, Candidates shall submit electronically to JATEC Human Resources Team at jatec.recruitment@jatec.nato.int before the application deadline, the following documents:

  1. The completed JATEC LWR Post Requirements Form for the particular post – REQUIRED;
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV), setting out your personal details (name, date of birth, NATO nationality, contact details and address, Professional qualifications, Education, Career to date); For the rules governing processing and protection of your personal data, please refer to the Personal Data Protection information in the Vacancy Notice – REQUIRED;
  3. Motivational letter i.e. one-page essay, indicating why your particular educational and professional background make you especially well-suited for this post – REQUIRED;
  4. English language certification and/or proof of English language education and/or proof of work in English speaking environment – REQUIRED;
  5. Nationals of NATO countries that are not members of the European Union (EU) require a residence permit and a work permit for Poland – REQUIRED;
  6. A copy of NATO Secret security clearance, if already in possession of such clearance – OPTIONAL;
  7. Candidates who are closely related in the first or second degree to a member of a NATO body, in particular, of the JATEC staff, are also required to include a separate statement to this effect, identifying their relative by name and position.

All documents must be submitted in English language. Any documentation submitted in a language other than English must be accompanied by at least an unofficial translation.

NOTE: Application must consist of at least no. 1, 2, 3 and 4 the above-mentioned documents, and must reach JATEC HR via email before the vacancy notice’s deadline.

The two official languages of NATO are English and French. The work at JATEC is mainly conducted in the English Language.
